The Sun

The sun represents the spirit of life and it symbolises the living spark of creation. It is constantly re-creating itself and the moon reflects its creation to earth.

The sun portrays you as an individual – the basic you. It describes your personal energy and drive to become.

The sun is outer-directed, conscious and active and it corresponds to the masculine principles of vitality, willpower, courage and purpose. It is the motivating force that drives you and distinguishes you as a separate person.

The sun is your creative energy, it represents the present and future while the Moon is your reactive energy and it represents the past and past emotional habit patterns.

The sign and house in which the sun is placed in the lunar chart at your date, time and place of birth has a strong influence over your potential in life and your desire to achieve on earth.

Good aspects to the sun indicate selflessness, self-confidence and vitality; the conscious energy in you is balanced.

Bad aspects to the sun indicate psychological and/or attitude problems due to self-centeredness. These difficulties must be analysed, understood and brought into perspective. The conscious energy in you is out of balance. You will be constantly tested until you overcome the self-centred qualities of the sun. The sun’s energy by sign, house and aspect describes your path to positive development and growth through its energy. The sun is the natural ruler of the fifth house; it is dignified when placed in its own sign, the sign of Leo where the radiance of the sun creates life.

The sun is exalted when it is placed in its strongest sign which is the sign of Aries. Aries is courageous and strong in the qualities of Leo.

The sun is in its fall when it is placed in the sign opposite its sign of exaltation which is the sign of Libra. Libra is indecisive and weak in the qualities of Leo.

The sun is in its detriment when it is placed in the sign opposite its sign of rulership which is the sign of Aquarius. The objectivity of Aquarius is lost in the radiant qualities of Leo.

The sun’s symbol represents the living spark of creation.
