The Moon

THE INFLUENCE OF THE MOON

The Moon reflects the energy of the Sun to Earth. It rules feelings, sensations and emotions depending on the energy you identified with from the Sun and absorbed from your most nurturing parent or guardian in your growing-up years. It also rules the environment to which you were born and your instinctive response to that environment. The sign in which the Moon is placed at your time and date of birth describes the kind of nurturing you received in your childhood years and your inborn instinctive response to that nurturing. The house in which the Moon is placed at your time and date of birth describes the circumstances that moulded and shaped your feelings, sensations and emotions. Any deep-rooted feelings, sensations and emotions have their roots in the subconscious mind and they will surface through the influence of the sign and house in which the Moon is placed. The Moon is reactive energy. It acts and reacts through a myriad of emotions deep within the subconscious mind that connect with feeling, sensation and emotion. Observe your feelings, sensations and emotions because their origins are deeply embedded in the habit patterns of the past (past life-times).

Good aspects to the Moon will give a positive flow of emotional energy. You can release your emotions freely. Your senses and feelings are balanced.

Bad aspects to the Moon give a lack of reason to your senses and feelings and you can be highly emotional or emotionally withdrawn depending on the sign. Your emotions and reactions to life on Earth can swamp reason through an afflicted subconscious mind.

The Moon is the natural ruler of the fourth house and it is dignified when it is placed in its own sign which is the sign of Cancer where it is nurturing and protective of family security and tradition.

The Moon is exalted when it is placed in its strongest sign which is the sign of Taurus where it is strong in the qualities of Cancer.

The Moon is in its fall when it is placed in the sign opposite its sign of exaltation which is the sign of Scorpio where it is weak in the qualities of Taurus.

The Moon is in its detriment when it is placed in the sign opposite its sign of rulership which is the sign of Capricorn where it is limited through emotional control.

The Moon’s symbol shows the Crescent Moon.
